For general medical advice at any time of day or night, please telephone NHS DIRECT on 0845-4647

If you require urgent medical attention or an urgent home visit by a doctor (one that cannot wait until the next day) when the surgery is closed, please telephone GRABaDOC who deal with our out-of-hours requests for medical care; telephone (020) 8319-3030

If you need to attend hospital because of a serious injury or illness, the nearest Accident & Emergency departments are at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich.

Please do not attend Casualty except in case of a real emergency; remember that the waiting time is often several hours. We will always try to see you in the surgery as quickly as possible if you explain to the receptionist that you need medical attention.

There is also a Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at the Northumberland Heath Medical Centre (on the same site as Erith & District Hospital) which can deal with less serious injuries and illnesses; the MIU is open Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm
