Practice Information

Parking

  • Limited Parking is available on the road for disabled badge holders (please check the signage).
  • For Westwood surgery, a public car park is available on the corner of Westwood Lane.
  • Surgery car parks are for staff only.

Training

We are a teaching practice and Medical Students will sometimes sit in our Doctor's or Nurses' appointments. If you prefer not to have a student sitting in, please let the doctor or receptionist know. We also have General Practitioner Registrars attached to our Surgery and are fully qualified doctors gaining experience in general practice.

As part of ongoing training, some doctors may on occasion video their consultations. Consent is always obtained from patients prior to your appointment being videoed. You of course have the opportunity to decline.

Patient Group

Our Patient Participation Group is a small and active group of patients and practice staff who meet to discuss ways to:

  • Strengthen the relationship between the Practice and its patients.
  • Assist the Practice in continuing to improve its provision of healthcare.
  • Ensure that patients are at the heart of decision making.

Our aim is to create a route for all our patients to be involved in informing the practice about what matters most to them, and to support the practice in identifying solutions to problems. We want to make a real difference to the delivery of healthcare and services at our practice both at Westwood and Pickford surgeries through the involvement of as many of our patients as possible.

Medical Research

We work in partnership with the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) Clinical Research Network who carry out important research. Our research is funded by public bodies and charities.

Research is an important part of healthcare. It is used to learn more about certain illnesses and to identify the most effective way of treating patients.
